Furniture Project #1

I tried my hand at refinishing furniture since lots of cool people do it.

Stage 1: The "before" in all its 70s glory

Stage 2: Sanded (by hand, no less)

Stage 3: Primed

Stage 4: Painted and re-knobbed
(Honestly, who doesn't want a yellow hexagon end table?)

More Than Just Corn

Stella and I spent five days in Kansas visiting my friend Tressa. We stayed up too late and ate too much, but that's what vacations are for. Kansas is suprisingly more fun than one would think. Did you know they even have a yellow brick road?

Stella loved Bentley's workshop. She would have stayed on that stool the whole trip if I'd let her. (Trivia #1: Which little boy in this picture likes to tackle Stella?)

The zoo in Topeka is the best kind: small enough to be done in an hour and the animals are up close. Our favorites were the flamingos (it was a bit humid in the tropical rainforest, thus the fogginess)

and the ape.

"Ta-da!"

Riding the train at the park

Playing on the jungle gym

They both got scared riding the carousel horses after a minute so they sat on the bench instead. (Trivia #2: Which little boy in this picture is only a month and a half older but much bigger than Stella?)

By the weird stares I was getting, you'd think they hated being in a stroller together, but they actually really liked it.

We had a most excellent time, although it's nice to be back. Dorothy was right after all.
